Important settings before creating an Email Archive job

Introduction

The Email Archive job archives mailbox content automatically based on the configured settings and schedules. Before creating an Email Archive job, several system-level and configuration prerequisites must be verified, including web service installation, database and connection settings, and the mandatory configuration options available under Email Archive ⇒ Settings.

This page describes the prerequisites that must be met and the mandatory settings that must be configured before setting up an Email Archive job.

Prerequisites

Before creating an Email Archive job, make sure the following conditions are met:

Configure the mandatory Email Archive settings

Configure the mandatory settings available under Email Archive ⇒ Settings. The configuration logic follows a left-to-right order — following this order ensures that all the necessary configuration is completed before proceeding to the next step.

If public folders also need to be archived, this must be set in the Email Archive system settings, under Email Archive tab ⇒ Settings ⇒ System settings, section General settings.

Note: These settings are described in detail in the section below.

Assign a database and storage to the mailbox

Assign a database and storage to the mailbox that will be archived. For more information, refer to Database and store assignment in email archiving.

If a database and storage have not been assigned manually, the first running Email Archive job will assign them to the mailbox automatically.
