Prerequisites for Microsoft 365 archiving
Introduction
Microsoft 365 archiving covers all archive models available online, including SharePoint archive, Email archive, and Teams archive. Before these archive models can be configured, contentACCESS must be connected to Microsoft 365 and granted the necessary permissions to access the tenant's data.
This page describes the prerequisites required to set up Microsoft 365 archiving and outlines where to continue configuring each individual archive model once these prerequisites are met.
Prerequisites
The following components must be configured before Microsoft 365 archiving can be set up:
- Microsoft 365 login provider – A contentACCESS user may log into contentACCESS (and/or into the client application contentACCESS Portal) using the Microsoft 365 external authentication provider. To be able to log in with a Microsoft account, you must first register an application in the Azure portal, and then create the Microsoft 365 login provider in Central Administration. For more information, see Configure Microsoft 365 login provider.
- Azure app registration – contentACCESS uses modern authentication to connect to Microsoft 365 Exchange Online. This requires an Azure app registration to be configured on the Microsoft 365 tenant. For more information about this procedure, see Azure app registration for Microsoft 365 archiving.
Configure the archive models
Once the Microsoft 365 login provider and the Azure app registration are configured, you can set up the individual archive models that require Microsoft 365 archiving:
- Email archive – For more information, see Email archive System settings.
- SharePoint archive – For more information, see SharePoint archive settings.
- Teams archive – For more information, see Teams archive System settings.
