The TEMP folder is running out of space when archiving big files
Introduction
This page describes a known issue where the Windows TEMP folder runs out of available space when archiving large files, and provides the recommended solution.
Problem
When archiving big files, the TEMP folder on the C disk (partition) can run out of space.
Solution
The only way to resolve this issue is to move the Windows TEMP folder to a different disk (partition) that has more available storage space.
To move the TEMP folder to a different disk (partition):
- Create a new TEMP folder on the disk (partition) where you want it to be located.
- Open Control Panel > System and Security > System > Advanced system settings.
- In the System Properties window, click the Advanced tab, then open Environment Variables.
- Change the values of the TEMP and TMP variables to point to the new folder created in step 1.
- Restart your system.
