Login providers

Introduction

The Login providers page in Central Administration allows administrators to configure the authentication methods available for contentACCESS users. A contentACCESS user can log into contentACCESS and/or into the client application contentACCESS Portal using either an external user account (via a third-party provider) or an internal user account (via the Forms provider).

This page describes the available login providers, explains how automated single sign-on can be configured, and outlines how login providers relate to user account setup.

Available login providers

The following external authentication providers are available in contentACCESS:

  • Windows
  • Microsoft 365
  • Google
  • Datengut
  • Perceptive
  • Microsoft Exchange
  • External AD

If you use a third-party provider, that provider authenticates you when logging into the system.

Note: When using the Microsoft Exchange login provider, the email address is used as the username and the Exchange password as the password.

The Forms provider is the internal login type and requires you to enter credentials directly when logging in.

Automated single sign-on

The Microsoft 365, Google, and Windows providers can also be set up as automated single sign-on providers using the Auto login column option. These providers can be configured as the default sign-in method for:

The configuration steps required for third-party providers are detailed in the External login provider configuration chapter.

Login providers and user accounts

When setting up a user account, a login type must always be selected. Users can only use login types that have been enabled in Login providers.

  • Windows and Forms login providers are enabled by default.
  • Other providers are available only after they have been configured.

The configuration settings of a login provider allow you to define whether it can be used to log in to the contentACCESS Central Administration only, to the contentACCESS Portal only, or to both.
