ThreatTest System settings

Introduction

The System settings page in ThreatTest allows administrators to configure the general settings required for ThreatTest to connect to the Exchange environment and process data. These settings include the database used for storing synchronization metadata, the EWS and PowerShell connection details for the Exchange server, and the index zone used to process items handled by the ThreatTest job.

To access these settings, navigate to ThreatTest ⇒ Settings ⇒ System settings on the ribbon:

Database settings

Select the ThreatTest database from the dropdown list. This database must already be configured on the ThreatTest ⇒ Settings ⇒ Databases page (in this example, the database "ThreatTestDbo" is used).

The selected database is used by the ThreatTest job, and all metadata generated during the synchronization process is stored here as well.

EWS settings

Under Exchange server type and Exchange server interface version, select the type and version of the server where your email provider is running. Then enter the EWS URL, PowerShell URL, and the PowerShell authentication. These values must be requested from the email provider you use. The configuration properties are the same for on-premise and hosted Exchange.

info

Note: If the user is using a German cloud (a dedicated and isolated Microsoft Azure version for Germany), Germany must be selected in the Region dropdown list.

Under Max. connection count, you can define how many parallel connections the system maintains when connecting to PowerShell.

If you do not have a valid certificate, you can check the Ignore SSL errors checkbox.

Keep connection alive: If this option is turned on, the connection between contentACCESS and the Exchange server is cached, which increases performance. If the Exchange environment is load balanced, some requests can land on a different Exchange server, which causes errors in contentACCESS. In these cases, unchecking Keep connection alive destroys the connection after each request and rebuilds it on the next request.

  • If you are communicating with one Exchange server: turn the option on to increase performance.
  • If you have a load balanced Exchange environment and are experiencing communication problems with the Exchange server: it is recommended to turn the option off.

Enter the applicable User name and Password to connect to the Exchange server (use explicit credentials or log in under service credentials). The user entered here must have the necessary rights to all mailboxes for which ThreatTest is to be activated. The necessary rights are:

  • Full access to all mailboxes.
  • View-only organization management.
  • Org Custom Apps (required for add-in installation).

We recommend running a test connection using the Test button.

Index zone settings

Select a previously configured index zone to be assigned to all items processed by the ThreatTest job.
