Interrupted manual and automated synchronizations

Introduction​

The Offline synchronization process handles interruptions and unavailable conditions differently depending on whether synchronization is already running or is scheduled to start. This includes situations where Outlook is stopped or the network connection is unavailable.

Synchronization interruptions​

The following behavior applies when synchronization is interrupted or cannot be started:

  • Outlook is stopped while synchronization is running: Synchronization is reset when Outlook is started again.
  • The network connection is interrupted while synchronization is running: Synchronization is cancelled.
  • Automated synchronization should start, but Outlook is stopped:
    • If the time set in the Offline synchronization settings has been exceeded, synchronization starts automatically the next time Outlook is started.
    • If the defined time has not been exceeded, synchronization starts according to the defined schedule.
  • Automated synchronization should start, but there is no network connection:
    • If the time set in the Offline synchronization settings has been exceeded, synchronization starts automatically when the network connection is established again.
    • If the defined time has not been exceeded, synchronization starts according to the defined schedule.
